About these spring printables handouts

Spring brings restless energy and a stack of end-of-unit work, and bright pages help keep attention on reading. This set uses a six-petal flower and a tulip as its main shapes, drawn as clean outlines that color well and print without much ink.

The reading log works well for a bloom-by-bloom challenge. Each finished book earns a flower, and the reward chart gives you 30 spots to stamp or color. The calendar has no printed dates, so it works for March, April or May, and the border page gives you a frame for garden journals, poems and observation writing.

The set has six files with one design: a reading log, a certificate, a blank calendar page, a page of ten bookmarks, a border page with writing lines, and a reward chart with 30 spots. Type your own names and dates into the fill-in boxes before you print. The reading logs, certificates, bookmark sheets and reward charts carry no logo or web address, because they go home with students; the calendar and border page keep a small footer.

How to use them

  1. Pick the file you need from the version picker: reading log, certificate, calendar, bookmarks, border page or reward chart.
  2. Open the fill-in boxes and type the title, names, teacher and dates. What you type is what prints.
  3. Choose a class style. The bright styles are cheerful on screen, and black and white saves ink.
  4. Print on letter paper. Use cardstock for the bookmarks and reward chart so they last.
  5. Cut the bookmarks apart along the dashed lines, and punch the small circle if you want to add yarn.

Classroom tips

  • Turn the reward chart into a class garden: color one flower for every book finished by the whole table.
  • Use the border page for a spring observation journal entry after a walk outside.
  • Print the bookmarks on pastel paper and punch the holes before handing them out so younger children can add ribbon.

Notes on this page

  • Calendar pages have no printed dates: type the month and year, then write the dates in by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the spring set for a plant unit?

Yes. The flower and tulip designs are plain shapes, not botanical diagrams, so they suit a plant unit as decoration. The border page also works for observation notes.

Is the calendar for one particular month?

No. It is a blank month grid with a spring border. Type the month and year in the fill-in box and write in the dates yourself.

Do the student pages carry the site logo?

No. The reading log, certificate, bookmarks and reward chart print with no logo or web address, so they are clean for a student to keep. The calendar and border page keep a small footer.
